Pick the idea
Describe the two of you and the occasion, and ask for five ideas: a rap duo, a birthday roast, a slow trend clip. Keep the one that sounds like you.

Not by itself. As of October 2026, ChatGPT writes text and makes still images but does not render video: OpenAI closed the Sora app and website on April 26, 2026, and switched off the Sora API on September 24, 2026. For a music video of you and a friend from photos, let ChatGPT write the idea and get the video in a few minutes here: 12 seconds of AI rap for 10 credits.

The short answer
Updated
No, ChatGPT cannot make videos on its own right now. It writes scripts, plans and lyrics, and it makes and edits still pictures with ChatGPT Images on every plan (OpenAI help), but it does not render a moving clip.
OpenAI’s video model, Sora, had its own app and website. Both closed on April 26, 2026, and OpenAI shut the Sora API on September 24, 2026 (OpenAI help: the Sora discontinuation). The API deprecations page names no replacement. So “can ChatGPT make videos” and “can ChatGPT make a video of me” have a different answer this year than last.
To make a video of you and a friend from photos, split the job: ChatGPT for the idea and the words, a video maker for the picture. Add a photo of each of you, or one of both, paste the line ChatGPT wrote, and the two of you rap it in the orange Hotel Lobby AI booth: a lip-synced music video, ready in a few minutes.
Partly. Runway says its app lets you make a video inside ChatGPT when you mention @Runway in a chat. Runway’s own models do the render (it names Gen-4.5, Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0 and Veo 3.1), you sign in with a Runway account, and it spends your Runway credits (Runway in ChatGPT). The clip appears in the chat, but ChatGPT did not make it.
Yes. In the Gemini app, Google’s Gemini Omni makes 10-second videos with sound, and Google says it will replace Veo there. It starts from text or up to 5 photos, and an optional avatar puts you in your own clips. You need a Google AI plan (Plus, Pro or Ultra) and must be 18 or older; features vary by plan and country (Gemini Omni, Gemini Apps Help). Each video carries Google’s invisible SynthID watermark.
From photos to a clip
A clear photo of you and one of your friend, or a single photo of the two of you. Faces forward, good light.
Ask for one sentence with both names and a real detail, and paste it into the topic box (up to 120 characters). The rap is written from it.
Sign in with Google and render. The provider estimates up to about 5 minutes; then download the MP4.

Where ChatGPT helps
Describe the two of you and the occasion, and ask for five ideas: a rap duo, a birthday roast, a slow trend clip. Keep the one that sounds like you.
Ask for a single sentence with both names and one true detail. The verse is built from it, so nobody writes full lyrics.
Once the clip is ready, ask ChatGPT for a caption and a few hashtags for TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
| ChatGPT | Gemini app | RapVideo | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Makes video itself | No, Sora closed | Yes, 10-second clips | Yes, 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 s by model |
| From your photos | Still images only | Up to 5 images | One photo or two |
| You in the video | No | Images or your avatar | Your own faces |
| What you need | Any plan, for images | Google AI plan, 18+ | Credits, from $9.99 |
The ChatGPT and Gemini columns are what OpenAI and Google say on their own pages, checked October 5, 2026. Plans and countries change, so read their help pages before you pay.
For a full music video starring you two, see the AI music video generator. For one-photo clips, browse the AI video effects or animate old photos. The 80s look people ask ChatGPT for as a still image also comes as a moving clip: the 80s AI video.

Not by itself. As of October 2026 it writes scripts, storyboards and lyrics and makes still images, but does not render video. OpenAI closed the Sora app and website on April 26, 2026, and the Sora API on September 24, 2026.
No. Upload a photo and you get an edited still image or ideas, not a moving clip. Here one photo is enough for a 5-second effect, and two photos make a music video.
Not anymore. The Sora app could put you or your friends into videos after a short recording, and it closed on April 26, 2026. Here you add a clear photo of yourself, plus a friend’s if you like, and the video uses those faces.
It does not render video on any plan, and Runway’s app spends Runway credits. Gemini’s video maker needs a paid Google AI plan, though Google also offers Gemini Omni in YouTube Shorts at no cost. Videos here are paid: an effect is 4 credits, the 12-second AI rap 10.
Yes. The Gemini app makes 10-second videos with sound using Gemini Omni, which Google says will replace Veo there. It needs a Google AI subscription, you must be 18 or older, and features vary by plan and country.
Yes, on a paid Google AI plan: up to 5 images per video, only ones you have the right to use. Its avatar of you can only be used by you. Uploading a video to edit is not offered in the EEA, Switzerland or the UK, or in some US states.
Add one photo of each of you, or one of both, type one line about what the rap is about, and render. You get the video in a few minutes: the two of you rapping an original song. For a short trend clip, switch to Effects.
Everything around the render: the idea, the one line for the topic box (up to 120 characters), and the caption and hashtags when you post.
OpenAI has not announced it. Its deprecations page lists no replacement for the Sora video models, and its help center says Sora data is deleted after any final export window.
