How to Do the Fancy Cafe Trend: Filmed or With AI

1. Find the set: a low bench or step along a wall and a small round side table at about seat height. At home, a low coffee table and a stool work.
2. Prop the phone up in portrait, far enough back that both of you are seen from head to toe, and leave it still for the whole take.
3. Sit on the table first, feet on the bench, coffee in hand, looking relaxed.
4. Your friend walks in about six seconds later, sits on the bench and puts a coffee on their table without looking at you.
5. Take a few seconds to notice, then climb down slowly and sit next to them. Keep a straight face.
6. Add the caption "POV: Your first time in a fancy cafe" and the trend’s sound in TikTok.

Do not stand or sit on a real cafe’s furniture without asking. Wall tables like these are made to hold a cup, not a person; the skit is staged, and many remakes were made with AI instead.

The fancy cafe trend only works in a cafe where the seats and the tables look alike. Look for these, and be a good guest while you film:

• A minimalist cafe with a long, low bench along the wall and small round tables at seat height. Raw concrete, bare walls and no signs make the mix-up believable.
• Ask the cafe first. Say what you are filming, buy your coffees, and pick a quiet hour so other guests are not in your shot or in your way.
• Keep your weight off the cafe’s tables: perch on the bench edge next to one, or film at home with a low coffee table and a stool.
• Keep other guests out of the frame, or ask them. A still camera makes it easy to show only the two of you.

In the 427 fancy cafe posts we read on 3 November 2026, the skit stayed the same and the cast changed:

• Pets: a big dog on the cafe table, and a poodle who sits on the bench like a regular.
• Animals with AI: a capybara in a hoodie makes the same mistake in a cafe of its own.
• Cartoons and drawings: animated versions in a gold and marble cafe, or the skit drawn in a sketchbook.
• Other cafes: the same mix-up at a wall table by a shelf, or in a cafe with a gravel floor.
• Your friends: one of you on the table, the other walking in, filmed for real or made from two photos.

• CapCut: most tutorial posts carry a "CapCut · Try this template" link. In 427 fancy cafe posts we read that day, 289 had one, and 246 led to the same template, which takes one photo.
• Kling AI: some tutorials, tagged #klingai, make the skit in the Kling AI app.
• Other AI video sites added a fancy cafe template too, from one or two photos.

• Caption it the way everyone does: "POV: Your first time in a fancy cafe". The joke lands faster when people know the format. Other captions on top posts: "When you try a fancy cafe for the first time", "first time at the fancy cafe" and "Culture shock: cafe edition".
• Tag it: on 3 November 2026 #yourfirsttimeinafancycafe had 459 videos and #fancycafetrend 308; #fancycafe had 2.4 million views.
• Turn on TikTok’s AI-generated content label if your fancy cafe trend video is made with AI. The rules are in does TikTok allow AI videos?.
• Use your own photo, or a friend’s with a yes. A real person’s face in a realistic AI video needs their agreement.
