How to do the Toc Toc dance, step by step
- Stand on one foot and lift the other knee high, pointing it out to the side.
- Hop on the standing foot on the beat, and switch feet every few hops.
- Make a fist and knock twice in the air, as if on a door, on every "toc toc".
- Open your arms wide, palms up, and shrug on the beat between the knocks.
- Turn to the side and keep hopping, kicking a knee forward, then turn back to the camera.
- Keep a straight face. The joke is how serious a Toc Toc dance looks.

Where the Toc Toc dance comes from
The song is older than the dance. Patrick Sébastien released "Toc toc" in 2015, ICI reported. A teenager from Compiègne, in northern France, named Noah made up the choreography, and by late October 2026 the song was a hit around the world, according to Orange Actualités. "Toc toc" is French for knock knock, which is why the dance knocks on a door. Outside France people call the song "Kicékéla", after a line in the chorus heard as one word.
