How to Make a Rap About Yourself (or Someone Else)
To make a rap about yourself, start with details only you could name: your street, your job, a habit, a win, a loss. Write them down and turn them into 8 short lines (bars) that rhyme in pairs, with a 2-line hook you repeat. A rap about someone else works the same way, with their details. Specific beats clever: "night shifts at the gas station" lands harder than "I work hard."

Write your rap
A rap about yourself
Real details, 8 bars.
- Details
- One rhyme
- A hook
If you would rather not perform it, an AI can rap it for you. On RapVideo you type a topic of up to 120 characters, add a photo of you and one of a friend, and the AI writes the bars and raps them on video, 10 credits for 12 seconds at 720p.
Write a rap about yourself in 5 steps
- List 10 true details: where you live, what you do all day, a name people call you, something you are proud of, something that went wrong, a food, a sound, a smell.
- Pick the angle: brag (why you are the best at something), story (one day that changed things) or roast (laugh at yourself first).
- Pick a rhyme sound for each pair of lines, like "-ay" or "-ight", and list words that end in it. Near rhymes count.
- Write 8 bars. One idea per bar, about 8 to 12 syllables each, and make bars 1 and 2 rhyme, then 3 and 4, and so on (AABB).
- Write a 2-line hook that says the main idea plainly, and say the whole thing out loud over a beat. Cut any word you trip on.
Both creators make the same point from different ends: real details are the material, and confidence is half the delivery.

An example: 8 bars about yourself
Written for this page from the example details in the editor below. The bars rhyme in pairs (AABB).
Clock in at ten when the city goes quiet
Coffee number three and I still never buy it
Cat named Biscuit got the couch and the throne
Pay the rent first, then the rest is my own
Undefeated at Uno, ask the whole block
Draw four on my cousin at a quarter to two o’clock
Night shift, right shift, never miss a day
Small life, big laugh, and it’s all on the wayThe sounds do not have to match perfectly. "Quiet" and "buy it" is a near rhyme, and most rap is full of them. More starting points are in what to rap about and funny rap lyrics.
Make a rap about someone else
- Ask two people who know them for one story each. The best line usually comes from someone else’s memory.
- Use their nickname, their catchphrase and one thing they always do.
- Keep it kind or at least fair if they will hear it. A birthday rap is a toast, not a diss.
- End with the hook on their name, so the room can shout it back.
For a birthday, the birthday rap song page has the setup ready; for a friendly roast, see rap battle roasts.
Let AI rap it on video
- In the editor below, add a photo of you and one of a friend, or one photo of you both.
- Type your topic in the Rap about box, up to 120 characters: who it is about and two or three of your details, for example "Me: night shifts, a cat named Biscuit, still undefeated at Uno".
- Untick Both rap and the person in the left photo raps while the other hypes; leave it on and the two of you take turns.
- Make the video and download the MP4. 10 credits for 12 seconds at 720p; a failed render gives its credits back.
The box takes a topic, not finished lyrics: the AI writes its own bars around your details, new each time. To rap your exact words, record yourself and use your own song instead. The rap videos are made for two people; there is no solo rap from one photo of one person yet.
FAQ
How do I write a rap about myself?
List true details about your life, write 8 bars with one idea each that rhyme in pairs, and add a 2-line hook. Say it out loud over a beat and cut what trips you up.
What should I rap about if I am a beginner?
Your own day: your job, your street, your friends, one thing you are proud of. Specific details are easier to rhyme and more fun to hear than big claims.
How many bars is a verse?
A standard rap verse is 16 bars, but 8 bars is plenty for a first rap, a birthday or a short video.
Can AI write and rap a song about me?
Yes. On RapVideo, type a topic about yourself and add two photos, or one of you and a friend. The AI writes and raps it on video, 10 credits for 12 seconds at 720p.
Can the AI rap my own lyrics?
Not from the topic box: it writes its own bars around your topic. To use your exact words, record them and upload the recording as your own song.
